Live Interactivity acts as the director portal empowering creators to go live. It is also the primary engine driving real-time community engagement and fan-to-fan interaction.

I was initially tasked with bringing an existing desktop interaction to mobile. But as I investigated how the experience worked across platforms, I found that simply replicating the existing behavior wouldn’t create a scalable solution.

The project eventually evolved into a broader systems design challenge enhancing both mobile and desktop's interaction patterns, and shared component behavior with other YouTube surfaces.

The project required continuous collaboration beyond my immediate team. Technical constraints shaped interaction decisions, while Design Systems and adjacent teams helped determine where experiences should converge and where they should intentionally differ.

I also explored new ways to integrate AI into my everyday design process, using AI-assisted prototyping to quickly turn interaction ideas into high-fidelity, testable experiences.

Prototyping became not just a way to communicate the final design, but a way to think through interaction and technical possibilities earlier.
